FAQs

What the heck is a "Robot In Bloom"?
Well, it's a really rad business that provides handcrafted paper flowers for special events, gifts, and home decor!

You know what I mean... Why is it called "Robot In Bloom"? What does that mean?
I got the name from the doodle I did when I wasn't paying attention during a staff meeting at my old job. I drew the little guy you see above, thought the name would be cool, and it stuck!

They're made out of paper?
Yep! They're made out of parchment, crepe, and tissue papers. Sometimes I also repurpose other paper, such as phonebooks and magazines, to create funkier blooms.

Do they smell like flowers?
No. I haven't found a way to achieve long-lasting scents without ruining the papers with oils. If you have any suggestions for scent alternatives, I'd love to hear them!

So how do you care for them?
Well, they're paper, so you can't get them wet. Otherwise, just handle them they way you'd handle a regular flower - you wouldn't grab them by the head and swing them around, so please don't do that with these either. They can be dusted with a soft paintbrush or a cool, low hairdryer. It's also a good idea to keep them out of reach of small children and pets. Oh, and please keep them away from flame! I have a flame retardant I can spray on them if you want, but still... Yikes.

I'd like to order some bouquets for my wedding. How soon should I order them?
As soon as you can! The bigger window we have, the more time you and I have to collaborate on the design, and the lower your shipping costs will be. You can just keep them in their boxes until the big day (or take them out and admire them every so often while you get giddy, thinking about how happy you are to be marrying the person of your dreams!)

Can you match my color scheme?
I will try my very best! The parchment is hand-painted, so that's good. Tissue paper comes in tons of shades, and crepe comes in slightly fewer. It will help greatly if you can send me swatches, paint chips, etc.

I obviously want to keep my flowers after the wedding, but I don't want a bouquet sitting around. Can you help?
Totally! You can send your flowers back, and I'll create wall art for you! You can choose from a traditional wreath adorned with your blooms, or they can be attached artfully to a painted canvas for a unique, 3D effect!

Wedding, schmedding. Do you do flowers for other events?
Absolutely! Want a lovely display for your dining room? I can do it! Need a gift for someone special? No problem! Want to wow everyone at your next birthday party? I can help! Whatever you need, I'm ready!

I'm ready to buy a custom piece! How much is it? And how do I pay?
For the custom orders, it's hard to say up front. I will definitely give you an estimate before either of us commits to anything, but we'll need to talk about your design needs and wants first. And, remember, starting the design process sooner than later will help you avoid rush fees from me and from shipping! Also, you should probably know that for a big project (wedding, party, etc.), I require a 50% deposit to start working on it, and then the last 50% is due at least 14 days before the event. For custom and wedding orders, I will send you a PayPal invoice via email once your order has been finalized. You do not need a PayPal account to pay through the site - just a credit card or debit card.

How do I get started?
For a custom order, you can either fill out this handy form or email me. For an already completed piece, go to the Robot In Bloom store, or head to my Etsy shop.
